The Czech Republic is a small landlocked in Central Europe situated south-east of Germany and bordering Austria to the south, Poland to the north and Slovakia to the south-east.

On January 1, 1993, Czechoslovakia was divided in two by a parliamentary decision. Since then, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic are two independent countries.
